Florals, neon lights, fancy sleeves and lots of bling – the recently concluded FDCI Indian Tailoring Week 2022 launched many fashion dreams. Making a strong case for sustainability and gender fluidity, Delhi’s mega show allowed the country’s ace designers to showcase their finest collections.

Blingy time ahead

It’s time to step out of the shadow of loss and indulge in the bling! High on pearls, crystals and metallic fringe, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna’s latest couture collection, Fibonacci, has dramatic fabrics that meet precise techniques in defined patterns.

Arjun Kapoor added black magic to the creation of Kunal Rawal

“We present a perfect world, which has just come back from the edge of chaos. Each garment is handmade,” the duo explain. Suneet Varma’s sparkling collection, titled Sitara, mixes modern glamor with traditional styles. Sequin sarees paired with sexy blouses and contemporary silhouettes were in keeping with the designer’s signature style.

Designer Dolly J’s chunky lehengas in red and gold, in flowing textures and dramatic waterfalls, also upped the bling quotient. Rahul Mishra has added metals to his brand’s signature craftsmanship.

The ace of fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani agrees: “As ironic as it may seem, the immobility of the pandemic has given me and the studio time to review what we are doing, and to reflect on how to technically, in terms of movement and flow, make it experiential rather than just creating dazzling. discomfort, as many Indian evening and bridal brands have done. We also believe that a thing of beauty is a joy forever, and creating exquisite clothes that look like skin is part of sustainable fashion, because then they will be worn again and again!”
