Comments off on the return of the fashionable Bridge Fest; Parade, Thatcher Markham 5K, water ski show and a day in the sun
Editor’s note; 97.7 Kevin Ericson from the Wolf was able to provide us with some photos of tonight’s fireworks. You will find them below in the photo gallery.
Bridgefest is back. Hundreds of people flocked to Quincy Street in Hancock and Sheldon Avenue in Houghton to see the festival parade return. Sen. Ed McBroom and Rep. Greg Markkanen were both in attendance, marching alongside businesses, nonprofits, community groups and city officials from both cities. Grand Marshall, Tom D’Arcy sailed in style on US-41, followed by the many incredible floats in this year’s parade. The children made sure to catch lots of candies and popsicles.
Saturday continued the fun and excitement. Classic cars and antique motorcycles relived the glory days at the Houghton County Fairgrounds. More people gathered at Kestner Park to listen to live music and check out the various vendors and refreshment options. Others lined the waterfront to watch the spectacular canal show.
Below are photos from last night’s parade and today’s activities. We hope everyone had a fun and safe Bridge Fest. Tomorrow is Father’s Day Ice Cream Social on the Houghton Waterfront, and more helicopter rides!
