creating a sense of escape

The theme for the June issue of Luxury the magazine is an escape. From uplifting fashion to travel inspiration and self-care ideas, our stories highlight the fact that escapism can take many forms. And in our fashion shoot, we show that you don’t have to jump on a plane to get out of the daily grind.

A suite at the Palazzo Versace Dubai hotel became our playground for the day as we celebrated the idea of disconnecting from adulthood and taking precious time away with a golden stay.

A cloud-painted dress from Alexander McQueen was the perfect outfit to embrace the childish joy of balloons, while a shaggy jacket from Valentino was the perfect foil for dancing through a glittering curtain. A hand-beaded dress by Dubai’s Michael Cinco transformed our model, Milena, into a couture mermaid in the suite’s spacious circular bathtub, while a relaxed bodysuit and oversized jacket by Gucci were complemented by a shower of flower petals.

Adults, jumping on the bed is largely forbidden, yet the silver sequins of Dolce & Gabbana encouraged this little rebellion, just as a tulle dress by Kuwaiti designer Bazza Alzouman became a romantic picnic tablecloth to enjoy a cake at the chocolate alone. To better capture this free spirit, makeup artist Gulum Erzincan created a butterfly of multicolored crystals on Milena’s face, which changed as the day went on.

For those who crave respite from being the only adult in the room and want to retreat to the carefree days of childhood – even just for a short while – there is a simple formula. Plug in, get dressed, and request a late checkout.
