From Michigan to Hollywood! Happy 50th birthday, Selma Blair! | Lifestyles

Selma was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018, and by 2019 her symptoms had worsened so much that she was temporarily unable to walk and speak. She said: “It was a very difficult time in my life. People don’t talk about how excruciating it can be, emotionally, to prove you’re unwell. But I want to tell the truth about MS. It’s important to me that people see what it’s like to live with a chronic disease.” Here she is pictured with her service dog MS Scout helping her with her daily activities. She said, “He’s with me all the time. If I fall into a big [muscle] spasm or having difficulty moving and needing to recalibrate, it can get between my legs, help me get up and balance me. It gave me a lot of independence.”
