Over the weekend, former NBA star Vince Carter’s Atlanta home was broken into. According to police records, Carter’s wife and children hid in a closet during the burglary.
Carter’s wife, Sondi, told the Atlanta Police Department she was lying in bed with her twin sons when she heard “loud noises” coming from the front of their home.
“Ms. Carter said she took her sons and hid in their bedroom closet upon hearing the unknown suspects enter her home,” the police report read, via USA TODAY Sports. “Ms Carter said she could hear the unknown suspects going upstairs and going through their belongings in different rooms while she was hiding.”
When police arrived at the scene, an unknown black man wearing black clothes and a mask was running from the house. He was later picked up by a black SUV.
Additionally, police say $16,000 was strewn on the ground outside Carter’s home.
Two firearms were also found, including one belonging to the former All-Star swingman.
Fortunately, the Carter family was not injured in this incident.
