Man Utd 'want to be fast' with deal for £200k-a-week star at Old Trafford – GIVEMESPORT

Manchester United “want to be fast” over a new deal for Marcus Rashford at Old Trafford, Fabrizio Romano has told GIVEMESPORT.
Erik ten Hag’s side triggered a one-year contract extension for the likes of Rashford, Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw and Fred back in December, but the club are keen to sit down and discuss fresh terms.
According to The Athletic, tying Rashford down to a new deal is seen as the priority at United, with the aforementioned quartet all being able to speak to overseas clubs at the start of January had those options not been triggered.
Rashford’s contract talks no doubt had become more of a issue given PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi spoke so freely about being interested in signing him as a free agent, and declaring him as a “really amazing” player.
Now, Romano has indicated that not only do United want to be quick to seal a new contract with right-back Dalot, the club are also keen to do the same with Rashford.
He said: “For Diogo Dalot, he has been very honest in saying he loves the club. It’s the reality. He would love to continue at Man Utd. Now it depends on the financial proposal but also in this case Man Utd want to be fast with Dalot and fast with Rashford.”
Currently on a contract of £200k-a-week as per Spotrac, an extension for Rashford would be as important as any new signing given how impressive the academy product has been this season.
The England international has certainly rediscovered his sparkling touch in front of goal since the arrival of Ten Hag last summer, and headed into the Manchester derby against Man City on Saturday afternoon having scored 15 goals in 25 games across all competitions, as per Transfermarkt.
Indeed, speaking in December, his manager could not help waxing lyrical about the forward, saying: “I think he is on a very good level and his performances are improving a lot from game to game.
“He was a continual threat today and in many other games this season and he has scored a lot of goals.  He does a lot of defending work, don’t forget that. I am really happy with his performances. I hope and expect him to keep going in this attitude and performance level.”
While United have spent big on the likes of Antony and Casemiro in recent transfer windows, it’s players like Rashford who no doubt mean the most to the club’s fans given his progression through the club’s academy system.
Ensuring he stays put and that his long-term future remains at Old Trafford is crucial for Ten Hag and United.
