Bernardo Silva has pointed out that Manchester City being 5 points behind Arsenal in the Premier League title race is a cause for concern.
After the arrival of Erling Haaland in the summer, the popular opinion was that the Premier League champions would run away with the title this season.
However, while Bernardo Silva and Co. have dropped points here and there, Arsenal have been virtually perfect throughout the campaign.
As a result, the Gunners are deservedly at the top of the league table, as both points and performance wise, they have been superior to Man City so far.
While Man City have chased down major leads in previous season to eventually triumph, it is tough to spot where Arsenal end up dropping points.
Despite Gabriel Jesus’ absence, it was business as usual for Mikel Arteta’s men who returned to club football unscathed with a 3-1 win against West Ham.
Bernardo Silva has said that he is concerned about Man City being 5 points behind Arsenal in the Premier League table.
“There is no sense of panic but there’s a concern that we’re [Man City] are 5 points behind our rivals [Arsenal].”
“We’re not happy because now we know, we cannot make more mistakes. Arsenal, they can make mistakes because even if they drop a few points, they’ll be in the race with us and with the other teams.”
“But if we drop more points, maybe Newcastle will go past us, [Manchester] United will go past, Tottenham will go past us and Arsenal will keep running and it won’t be easy to go after them.”
“So, no panic but definitely motivation and a lot of focus to not let them go further away from us”, he told Sky Sports.
Bernardo Silva and Man City have been there and done that way too many times to lose their heads.
However, a 5-point lead is a significant gap.
Arsenal need to maintain their winning streak and be virtually flawless to ensure one of the Premier League’s greatest ever teams panic, and ultimately stumble in their pursuit of a three-peat.
