International duty for academy starlets

Under-21 captain Joe Hodge is aiming for a piece of history with the Republic of Ireland Under-21s as the Boys in Green bid to reach Euro U21 for the first time in their history . Jim Crawford’s side will face a two-man play-off against Israel that will determine their fate ahead of the 2023 finals in Romania and Georgia.

At the Under-19s, striker Nathan Fraser helped the Republic of Ireland get off to a winning start in the first of three Euro U19 qualifiers next summer in Malta. Fraser was on the scoresheet in Ireland’s 6-0 win over Gibraltar, coming on as a second-half substitute to score the fifth goal. The next matches are against Wales and Hungary.

Dylan Scicluna will be involved in three international friendlies with Australia Under-20s in Spain, while younger brother Lucas is out with Malta Under-19s.

Wales will be represented by Brayden Clarke and Makenzie Bradbury at Under-17 and Under-16 level. Meanwhile, Josh Esen and Jimmy Storer are on standby for the Wales Under-19s and Republic of Ireland Under-19s respectively.
