Arsenal’s hopes of signing Mykhaylo Mudryk in January could run into trouble thanks to Premier League rivals Newcastle United.
Mudryk is high on the Gunners’ list of potential signings and he has been scouted more than once by Arsenal’s recruitment team. Indeed, it was this week that reports claimed that Arsenal did in fact have someone in the stands as Ukraine took on Scotland, with all eyes firmly on Mudryk.
However, according to The Athletic, it’s not just Arsenal who have their eyes on Mudryk, with Newcastle United also having him on their list of potential signings. The Ukraine star is claimed to be among a number of other wide players the Toon have their eyes on, with names like Jack Harrison and Moussa Diaby mentioned.
Whether or not Mudryk becomes the number one target remains to be seen. It is claimed in The Athletic that Newcastle will whittle down their list of names before January, before deciding which player to go all out for.
Mudryk has been super impressive in 2022. Dubbed ‘future superstar’ by the BBC’s Pat Nevin, it’s clear as day that he is a player of immense talent. Arsenal therefore hope that the Toon will not make him their main target.
TBR POV: Mudryk destined for Premier League
This is the league where all the money is and with players like Oleksandr Zinchenko thriving in England, Mudryk may well be tempted to make the move.
For Newcastle and Arsenal, this represents a high quality player who can instantly improve the team. As for the starting XI, Mudryk is more likely to improve Newcastle as things stand.
Either way, Mudryk is a player Arsenal look up to and if they get beaten by PIF and Newcastle it will leave an old sour taste in their mouths.
