Oscar winners Nicole Kidman, Javier Bardem, John Lithgow and Nathan Lane set to star in upcoming animated musical Bewitched for Skydance Animation and Apple Original Films.
They will join the previously announced Rachel Zegler in the film about a young girl who sets out to break the spell that has split her kingdom in two. Bewitched is directed by Vicky Jenson and written by Lauren Hynek, Elizabeth Martin and Linda Woolverton.
The film’s original music is by Oscar winner Alan Menken, with lyrics by Glenn Slater. Kidman will portray Ellsmere, Queen of Lumbria, while Bardem will portray Solon, King of Lumbria. Together they are the parents of Princess Ellian, voiced by Zegler, whom they join on a daring quest to save her family and her kingdom after a mysterious spell turns them into monsters and threatens to shroud Lumbria in darkness forever. .
Lithgow will lend her voice to play Minister Bolinar, and Jenifer Lewis will portray Minister Nazara Prone, Royal Advisor to Princess Ellian. And Lane will play the Sun and Moon Oracles, while Jordan Fisher and André De Shields will help round out the voice cast.
John Lasseter, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and David Lipman will produce for Skydance Animation. Other titles headed to AppleTV+ from Skydance Animation include Chance and the animated series Wondla as part of a global agreement.
Chance and Bewitched were originally created at Paramount, which has a movie contract with Skydance. This studio deal allowed Skydance, led by David Ellison, to move the films at its discretion.
