Strap match booked for Extreme Rules

Although WWE presented a Extreme Rules Pay-per-view (PPV) themed every year since 2009, in recent years the promotion has stopped booking every game with an extreme stipulation. They appear to be turning the tide with this year’s show, scheduled for Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The last example? A strap match!

Indeed, Drew McIntyre appeared on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown to lament the fact that Karrion Kross has been attacking him from behind and off guard for weeks now, and he wants both his chance to face off and the ability to ensure he has a say over the duration of commitment. To that end, a Strap match was the perfect challenge.

Naturally, Kross appeared and attacked him, you guessed it, from behind. He finally got the better of him, thanks to an assist from Scarlett with a fireball and a low ball, then accepted the challenge while smothering McIntyre.

Fun times ahead!

Here is the update Extreme Rules game card:

  • SmackDown Women’s Championship Extreme Rules Match: Liv Morgan (c) against Ronda Rousey
  • FIGHT PIT: Riddle vs. Seth Rollins
  • strap match: Drew McIntyre vs. Karrion Kross
