Vande Bharat beats bullet train with speed at 100 km/hr in 52 seconds

In a proud moment for India, the ‘Vande Bharat Express’ semi-speed train broke the high-speed train record by reaching the speed of 100 km/h in just 52 seconds while the high-speed train made in Japan covers 100 km/h in 55 seconds.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Minister of Railways, Communications and Electronics and Information Technology of the Government of India had also shared an interesting video which shows Vande Bharat Express train number two traveling at a speed of 180 kilometers per hour.

Notably, the one-minute video has two elements: a glass filled to the brim with water and a cellular device that shows the speed at which the train is moving.

He said that water did not flow from the glass even at the speed of 180 km/h on the Vande Bharat Express train. “Our Vande Bharat,” the minister captioned the tweet along with a video of the Made-in-India train.

The video shows a phone, its speedometer app on screen. The phone and a glass of water are on a table against the train window. In the one-minute clip, the readings on the speedometer varied between 180 and 183 km/h.

Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma called it a “proud moment” and expressed his joy on Twitter by posting Ashwini Vaishnaw’s tweet.

“It was a moment of great pride to know that our Vande Bharat express train, completely made in India, can handle a typical high-speed train accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h!” he wrote.

The Vande Bharat speed test was also conducted on the Kota-Nagda railway section at different speed levels. During this time, the speed touched the speed of 180 km/h in many places.

The Vande Bharat Express, also known as Train 18, is an Indian semi-rapid intercity EMU train which is operated by Indian Railways only on two major routes from March 2022, one from New Delhi to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and the other from New Delhi to Varanasi.

The Vande Bharat train is entirely made in India. It is a self-propelled motor train, that is, it does not have a separate engine. It has automatic doors and air-conditioned chair cars and a revolving chair that can rotate up to 180 degrees.
