You can create your own pop-up shopping party

What’s got four wheels and boutique-worthy racks and racks of clothes? Megan Currie has created the food truck equivalent to your favorite local clothing store – and the Vancouver Fashion Truck is popping up all over the Lower Mainland. Equal parts fashion and flexibility, the hip mobile store operates on a “here today, gone tomorrow” basis.

As for where she got her start, Currie says on her website that she knew the retail landscape was changing long before the pandemic hit.

“After visiting local festivals and fairs and seeing the potential of having a small shop that moved around, I decided to put my business on wheels so I could move around and ‘pop up’ easily.”

Signature shopping evenings

The truck usually appears in markets or at public events, but people can also book their own private “shopping nights” through their website. The experience can be taken just about anywhere, as long as there is a flat space for the truck to park on and an electrical outlet.

The most popular package brings the truck to your doorstep. What can customers expect? Up to 10 of your friends can get together and do a bit of private shopping, match outfits one-on-one, and get styling tips. Plus, 10% of party sales go towards buying the Host – with a total minimum spend of $750.

Parties are available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Now for the clothes. The current collection focuses on everyday pieces that can be worn day or night, including floral blouses, oversized cardigans, comfy jeans, graphic tees, summer dresses and more. Again. New arrivals arrive every week, so you’re sure to find some great new pieces to spice up your wardrobe.

And if you’re unable to buy some of the things you love, there’s an online store and warehouse in Burnaby that you can browse once Currie hits the road again. Customers can see where the truck should spawn next using the “find truck” feature.

That’s all for now, folks! Keep your eyes peeled for the Vancouver Fashion Truck and we’ll be back with you soon.
